Otibeguni

Otibeguni is a Bangladeshi media company that aims to revive interest in Bengali and indigenous folklore. Initially, our goal was to illustrate a few mythical creatures from popular Bengali culture. However, our curiosity led us to purchase folk tale collections written by various Bengali and indigenous authors. This exploration resulted in the rediscovery of over 100 mythical creatures from different parts of the historical region of Bengal.

Currently, we are working on publishing a beautifully illustrated catalog featuring these mythical creatures. Additionally, we have decided to adapt the collected folk tales into short stories and translate them into English, making them accessible to a wider audience. Furthermore, we are gathering a wealth of articles, YouTube videos, and books related to Bengali culture, history, and folklore. By cross-referencing these resources with our stories, we aim to provide our readers with a better understanding of the cultural and historical context behind these tales.

Funding and support are available for various activities such as publishing physical and digital books, creating audiobooks and podcasts, commissioning artwork, documenting oral stories through field trips, translating stories, conducting scholarly research, developing folktale catalogs on websites, and organizing community programs to raise awareness about indigenous folklore.
