The Otibeguni Indigenous Storyteller's Fund is an initiative is aimed at providing financial and logistical support to members of the indigenous community to help preserve their folktales in their own language, as well as Bengali and English. Here are some examples of activities for which applicants can apply for funding and logistical support:
- Authoring and publishing physical and e-books.
- Authoring and publishing audiobooks and podcasts.
- Commissioning artwork illustrating scenes from folktales.
- Field trips to document oral stories.
- Translating stories into Bengali and English.
- Performing scholarly research on indigenous folklore.
- Developing and hosting websites that serve as folktale catalogs.
- Community programs to raise awareness about indigenous folklore.
In addition to this, we are also looking for members of the indigenous community to serve as our mentors to help us understand how to best shape our approach and communication to maximize the impact of this initiative.
