Syed Nasiruddin Sipahsalar was a distinguished Islamic saint and military commander who played a central role in the spread of Islam across the Sylhet region. The most famous miracle associated with Syed Nasiruddin Sipahsalar concerns the unique orientation of his final resting place at the Murarband Dargah Sharif in Chunarughat, Habiganj. Standard Islamic burial traditions dictate that a grave be laid out along a north-south axis so that the deceased faces west toward the Qibla. However, local tradition and eyewitness accounts record that when the saint was buried in accordance with orthodox Islamic practice in a north-south alignment, an extraordinary phenomenon occurred. Over night, his grave miraculously shifted its position to face an east-west orientation, aligning in a manner unheard of in conventional Muslim burials.
According to spiritual legends, this supernatural shift occurred as a divine testament to the saint’s elevated status and extraordinary saintly powers. It is believed that during his lifetime, Syed Nasiruddin Sipahsalar had expressed a spiritual wish regarding his burial, and the miraculous reorientation of his grave served as an enduring sign of God fulfilling his spiritual will.
